The short version

RegFox Standard is registration software with conditional forms and a per-registrant fee. RegFox Premium adds on-site badge printing and an attendee app at a higher rate. Checkout Page is checkout software with no per-registrant fee. On 300 registrations at $299, Standard costs $1,194 while Checkout Page costs an illustrative $717 across three billing periods.

RegFox sits closer to Checkout Page in purpose than most platforms here. It is not a marketplace and it does not sell discovery. Standard includes conditional logic and attendee management. Badge printing and the attendee app are Premium features, so compare that plan rather than Standard if either is required.

Checkout Page covers the common version of that machinery at a flat monthly price and stops short of the specialist end. The comparison is therefore about how complicated your registration really is, and whether the extra capability is worth roughly $480 on a mid-sized conference.

The figures below exclude payment processing. RegFox publishes 2.9% plus $0.30 per transaction through Webconnex Payments, with other gateway options priced differently. Checkout Page uses the organizer's Stripe account, where rates vary. A fixed processing charge applies per transaction, not necessarily per registrant.

Fees compared

At $299 a ticket, RegFox's Standard fee is $3.98: 1% of $299 is $2.99, plus the $0.99 fixed fee, which is below the $4.99 cap. Across 300 registrants that is $1,194. Checkout Page charges no per-registrant fee, so the same conference costs $239 a month on Scale across a three-month campaign, $717 in total.

Selected-plan platform fees for 300 paid tickets at $299.00 ($89,700 in sales) sold evenly over 3 months. Alphabetical order, not a ranking. Competitor examples use the listed pay-as-you-go rates; prepaid credits, fee-removing subscriptions and self-hosting are not modeled. Checkout Page includes the modeled subscription commitment. Payment processing, taxes and optional services are excluded. For mixed ticket prices, calculate each tier separately when a fee cap applies.

RegFox$3.98$1,194$0.99 + 1% per registrant, capped at $4.99 (Standard); $1.99 + 1% capped at $5.99 on Premium and Professional. Badge printing and the attendee app require Premium or Professional, whose paid-registration fee is $1.99 + 1% capped at $5.99. Professional is $499/month billed annually. Entirely free events cost $0.99 per registrant on Standard; comps within paid events are free. Webconnex Payments pays weekly; third-party gateway schedules vary. Pricing source · Checked 2026-09-05.

Checkout Page's Scale price steps up with billing-period sales volume. The $717 total assumes those $89,700 of sales land evenly across three billing periods, about $29,900 in each. A different sales curve can select different tiers and change the total.

Now the smaller event. A 120-person workshop at $75 is $9,000 in sales. RegFox charges 1% of $75, which is $0.75, plus $0.99, so $1.74 a registrant and $208.80 in total. Checkout Page's Free plan covers up to $3,000 a month in sales, so $9,000 puts you on Scale at $99 a month, or $198 across a two-month campaign. RegFox takes 2.3% of the gate here and Checkout Page takes 2.2%, which is effectively a tie.

Two details change these numbers more than the headline rate does.

  • The cap. RegFox Standard caps at $4.99, which is reached at a $400 ticket. Above that the fee stops growing, so a $1,200 training conference pays $4.99 a head, not $12.99. That makes RegFox competitive at the expensive end.
  • Free registrations. RegFox says comped registrations are free when the same event also sells paid registrations. Its $0.99 Standard fee applies when the entire event is free. Checkout Page charges nothing for free tickets in either setup.

Where the money goes and when

RegFox supports Webconnex Payments and several third-party gateways. RegFox says Webconnex Payments pays weekly; a connected gateway follows that provider's schedule. Checkout Page sends payments to the organizer's Stripe account. In every case, settlement timing, verification and reserves can affect when funds reach the bank.

Ask RegFox directly about payout timing and any reserve or hold on new accounts, because their answer depends on your account rather than on a published rule. It matters for conferences: catering guarantees and speaker travel are due before the doors open.

With Checkout Page you are the merchant of record, the charge on the attendee's statement is yours, and refunds run through your own Stripe account. RegFox lets you choose whether the registrant or the organizer absorbs the platform fee, which is genuinely useful when a budget has to show a clean ticket price.

Conference features side by side

RegFox offers conditional registration on Standard and adds badge printing and an attendee app on Premium. Checkout Page has conditional forms but no native badge printing or attendee app. Price comparisons must use the RegFox plan containing the features required.

The badge printing row is the one that decides real deals. If your conference prints 800 badges at a registration desk on the morning of day one, RegFox does that natively and Checkout Page does not. The workaround is a CSV export into a badge tool, or a Zapier connection, and you should test it well before the event rather than at 7am.

Who should choose RegFox

Choose RegFox if registration is the hard part of your conference. Multi-track association meetings, medical conferences with credentialing questions, and anything that prints badges on site get real value from it. At tickets above $400 the $4.99 cap also makes the fee small relative to revenue.

RegFox combines conditional logic and multi-registrant orders, while Premium adds badge printing and an attendee app in the same system. Test the exact form rules and badge workflow you need, because those requirements should determine the plan.

If you are running a 1,500-person conference where the on-site experience is the risk, paying $1,194 for software that removes that risk is not extravagance. It is the cheapest part of your budget.

Who should choose Checkout Page

Choose Checkout Page if its conditional fields cover the required form and badges can be handled elsewhere. Payments route to your Stripe account, subject to Stripe's settlement and payout rules. You give up RegFox Premium's native badge printing and attendee app.

A plausible fit is a conference whose form can be expressed with Checkout Page's custom fields and conditional logic, and whose badges are printed from a CSV or by another tool. In the worked example, the illustrated plan difference is about $477, before payment processing.

For a paid conference, comped speakers, sponsors, volunteers, press and staff are free on both platforms. The free-registration difference applies to an entirely free event, not to those ticket types alongside paid registrations.

Switching from RegFox

Rebuild the form first, then the tickets. Export registrants and answers to CSV, recreate every question as a custom field with the same conditional rules, replace badge printing with a CSV or Zapier workflow, embed the new page, and keep the RegFox form live until the conference so old links keep working.

  1. Export registrants and all their answers from RegFox as CSV, and keep it as your badge source and offline check-in fallback.
  2. Write down the conditional rules in your RegFox form before you rebuild, since they are easy to lose and hard to notice missing.
  3. Recreate ticket types in Checkout Page with matching prices, capacities and sales windows, including free types for speakers and sponsors.
  4. Rebuild the questions as custom fields with conditional logic, and split long forms into multiple steps.
  5. Set up badge printing outside the platform: export attendees to CSV, or connect a badge tool through Zapier, and print a test sheet.
  6. Connect Stripe, run a real test registration and refund it, then embed the new page and leave the RegFox form published with a pointer to it.

Free migration is included on the Unlimited plan, which is the sensible option if the form has dozens of conditional rules. Attendees who registered through RegFox keep those registrations, so plan to run two check-in lists on the day.

Bottom line

RegFox Standard costs $1,194 on a 300-registrant, $299 conference, but badge printing requires Premium at $1.99 plus 1%, capped at $5.99 per registrant. Checkout Page costs an illustrative $717 across three billing periods and does not print badges. Compare the plan that contains the required registration-desk features.

Frequently asked questions

Is RegFox or Checkout Page cheaper for a conference?
Checkout Page is cheaper in this example. RegFox charges $0.99 plus 1% per paid registrant, so 300 registrants at $299 costs $1,194 in platform fees. Checkout Page charges nothing per registration and $239 a month on the Scale plan for that volume spread over three months, $717 in total. RegFox says free registrations alongside paid registrations are free; its $0.99 free-registration fee applies to entirely free events.
Can I switch from RegFox to Checkout Page before my event?
Yes, but check the registration form first. Export registrants and answers to CSV, then rebuild the form in Checkout Page with custom fields and conditional logic. If you use badge printing on RegFox Premium, plan and test a replacement before switching. Existing and new tickets may need separate reconciliation at check-in.
Does RegFox charge for free registrations?
It depends on the event. RegFox says free registrations within an event that also has paid registrations are free. An entirely free event costs $0.99 per registrant on Standard, so a 500-person free community day is $495. Checkout Page charges nothing for free tickets on any plan.
Which is better for complex conference registration?
RegFox, if the form is the hardest part of your event. Its conditional logic and multi-registrant handling are mature and it is built for registration rather than ticket sales. Checkout Page has conditional custom fields and multi-step forms, which cover most conference registrations but not every case.
When does the RegFox $4.99 cap apply?
The Standard fee of $0.99 plus 1% reaches the $4.99 cap at a $400 ticket, so anything above that costs $4.99 per registrant. Premium and Professional plans use $1.99 plus 1% capped at $5.99, and Professional is $499 a month billed annually, which changes the arithmetic considerably.
